THE PER UNIT SYSTEM – PART – 03 – THREE PROBLEMS IN PER UNIT SYSTEMS

PROBLEM – 01
A 10MVA 33kV 3-phase generator has a sub-transient reactance of 15%. The generator is connected to the motors through a transmission line and transformers as shown in fig. The motors have rated of 30MVA and 50MVA at 30kV with 20% sub-transient reactance. The 3-phase transformer are rated at 110MVA, 33 kV (delta) / 100 kV (star) with leakage reactance 8%. The line has a reactance of 50 ohms. Selecting the generator rating as the base quantities in the generator circuit determine the bus quantities in other parts of the system and evaluate the corresponding p.u. values.
PROBLEM – 02
For the system shown in the figure, draw the reactance diagram.
PROBLEM – 03
Two generators at 10MVA, 13.2kV, and15MVA, 13.2KV, respectively are connected in parallel to a bus. The bus feeds two motors rated at 10MVA and 12MVA respectively. The rated voltage of motors is 12.5kV. The reactance of each generator is 15% and that of each motor is 20% on its, own rating. Assume 50MVA, 13.2kV and 15MVA, 13.2kV base and draw the reactance diagram.
